Actually that just works for the first selected object but ignores the rest of the selection. I have the 3.4.0f5 version by the way, don't know if it's any different in a newer one.

If you go on server and the update tab, you can right click and DISCARD. But I'm not sure about what it does...

If you remove the static property it will stop receiving any kind of lighting as far as I know. I don't know yet if 'receive shadows' means it gets shadows from itself, other objects of both...
